Reidsville, NC, was incorporated in 1873 (although the history of the area can be traced to a lot earlier period), and the tobacco industry has had a major influence on the local economy for much of its existence. Even today, that history is hard to miss, as the iconic Lucky Strike smokestack looms large just outside of Reidsville’s downtown area. Reidsville is also home to one of the true gems of North Carolina, and that is the Chinqua-Penn Walking Trail, once a part of the incredible Chinqua-Penn Plantation estate. Just like much of Rockingham County, there are many opportunities for outdoor adventures.
