The Town of Jamestown was settled in 1752 as a Quaker settlement. James Mendenhall built a farm in what is now Jamestown, and his son, George, founded the Village of Jamestown in 1816. Gold was found in the area in the early 1800s, which created somewhat of a boom for the small community until the California gold rush. It wasn’t until 1947 that Jamestown became an incorporated community. Today, Jamestown sits between Greensboro and High Point, making it attractive for those relocating to the area and for businesses interested in opening in Guilford County. Although it is still a small community, it does have some great restaurants and many boutique stores to check out.
