High Point, also known as North Carolina’s International City, gets its name from being the highest point of the NC Railroad between Greensboro and Charlotte. Its history can be traced back to the mid-1700s as English Quakers and German immigrants settled the area. It was incorporated in 1859, and in 1909 the first Furniture Market was held. The Furniture Market continues to be a major part of the City’s fabric, but there is much more to this charming city, with the revitalization of its downtown playing a significant part. There are so many great places to explore, exceptional restaurants to dine at, and sports teams to cheer for.
