Carvers Creek State Park – Long Valley Farm Access

The Long Valley Farm Access was part of a winter vacation estate for James Stillman Rockefeller and Nancy Carnegie. Rockefeller was a member of the famed Rockefeller family, an Olympic gold medalist (1924 in rowing), a successful businessman, an Army airborne officer, and featured on the cover of Time Magazine. Rockefeller died in 2004 at the age of 102, and he left the Long Valley Farm estate to The Nature Conservancy, which donated it to the State of North Carolina to create a state park. The Long Valley Farm Access opened to the public in 2013, allowing visitors to explore the property by hiking the trails throughout the property. The house on the property is currently in a state of disrepair, and some of the other structures are currently closed to the public due to damage caused by Hurricane Matthew in 2016. We hope the area will continue to be restored, but we still enjoyed exploring the beautiful area even with the structures in their current state.

@thesociableadventurer Carvers Creek State Park is an NC State Park located in Cumberland County. The Park encompasses over 4,000 acres of land and offers a variety of recreational activities and natural attractions. The Park currently has two access points: Long Valley Farm and Sandhills. We love the variety that both of the access points have, from the Rockefeller House at Long Valley Farm to the beautiful longleaf pines at Sandhills. @Year of the Trail @Visit NC @North Carolina State Parks ♬ Following the Sun – SUPER-Hi & NEEKA
