Hickory Nut Falls

Hickory Nut Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in the eastern United States, with a height of approximately 404 feet (123 meters). The main drop is around 350 feet. The Falls are located in Chimney Rock State Park, part of the wider Hickory Nut Gorge area. The Falls gained recognition after they were featured in the movie “The Last of the Mohicans,” starring Daniel Day-Lewis. The Falls were showcased in the film’s dramatic cliff-jumping scene. The trail leading to the Falls is moderately difficult but still accessible to many people.
