Asheville Museum of Science

The Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) sits in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, and offers hands-on, interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity in children and families. Since moving to its larger space in 2018, the museum has showcased displays on geology, paleontology, physics, engineering, and the local ecology of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Highlights include a full Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton cast, the Colburn Earth Science Museum gem and mineral hall, and activities like fossil digging in the Paleo Lab, experimenting with water flow at the French Broad River table, building in the STEAM Lab, and exploring a life-sized gray wolf habitat. Focusing on Western North Carolina’s natural history, the museum combines regional science with playful learning, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors, especially on rainy days.
