Formerly known as the Peninsula Trail, it was renamed to honor Pat Crockett, an avid hiker who tragically lost his life while crossing the road at the trailhead on North Church Street. It is one of six watershed trails designated as part of the North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail, providing a natural surface trail experience that is popular for its scenic beauty and accessibility.
