Gorges State Park

Gorges State Park is a state park located in the southwestern part of North Carolina. The park covers an area of about 7,709 acres and is known for its rugged beauty, waterfalls (and access to waterfalls in the Pisgah National Forest), and diverse ecosystems. Gorges State Park has a network of hiking trails that allow visitors to explore the park’s diverse landscapes. Trails vary in difficulty, offering options for both novice and experienced hikers. Some trails lead to viewpoints overlooking the waterfalls, providing breathtaking scenery. We recommend checking out the Gorges State Park map before choosing a trail to better understand the trail’s difficulty (we can attest that the Rainbow Falls trail is strenuous). The park provides trail access to the Rainbow Falls and Turtleback Falls, which are a part of the Pisgah National Forest.
