The Museum of Ashe County History is inside the restored 1904 courthouse in downtown Jefferson. It’s a friendly place where you can learn about the area’s mountain heritage. You’ll find interactive displays, historic artifacts, and bright hallways that make you feel like you’re stepping back in time. We especially liked the exhibits about the Virginia Creeper Railroad, local music and moonshining, the copper mine, and education in Ashe County, but honestly, every exhibit was impressive. Whether you love history or are just curious about Ashe County’s past, the museum is a great place to explore and connect with the community’s story.
