Lansing, NC

Lansing is a small, charming town in Ashe County, North Carolina, set in the beautiful High Country of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This peaceful place sits about 2,654 feet above sea level and started as a trading post for local farmers in the late 1800s. It became an official town in 1928. In the past, Lansing was busy thanks to the Norfolk and Western Railroad, which connected to the old Virginia Creeper line.

Today, it is a quiet, rustic spot that attracts tourists, retirees, and people who love the outdoors. Many visitors come for the trout streams like Big Horse Creek, which runs through town and offers great views and fishing. There are also hiking trails and the Historic Lansing Creeper Trail Park. Downtown, you’ll find live music, local crafts, u-pick farms, and cultural events at the Lost Province Center for the Cultural Arts. The town has a friendly, small-town feel and celebrates its Appalachian roots, surrounded by forests and farmland.
