The Asheville Art Museum is located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, in the historic Pack Square district. Founded in 1948 by local artists and supporters, it has become an important part of the region’s arts community. In 2019, the museum reopened in a 54,000-square-foot glass building designed by Ennead, blending modern design with Asheville’s Art Deco heritage.
The museum’s collection features over 8,000 works, with a focus on American art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Highlights include works by pieces connected to Black Mountain College Program Series, studio craft, Cherokee artists, and creators from the Appalachian region. The museum also offers rotating exhibitions, educational programs, a sculpture terrace with views of the mountains, and the Perspective Café. It’s a great place to experience Asheville’s art and culture.

@thesociableadventurer Asheville Art Museum's vision is to "transform lives through art." After their establishment in 1948, they've committed to providing art education and enrichment to the community. They take pride in their schedule of 20th and 21st-century American art exhibitions. We love that they offer classes, workshops, tours, performances, lectures, and other programs for all ages. Our 3-year-old and 5-year-old loved viewing the art display, and they especially loved the kid's area, where they could create artwork of their own.
