The Fudgeboat

The Fudgeboat is one of the most charming and quirky stops on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. This family-owned sweets shop has been serving homemade fudge and ice cream since 2004, and was recently named the official fudge of the Carolina Beach Centennial. The name has real meaning, too. At the heart of the shop is a fully restored 38-foot wooden boat, found washed up after a hurricane, brought in from Chinquapin, and carefully refurbished over a month. Today, that same boat serves as the counter, with fudge cooking in big kettles at the stern and the day’s flavors displayed on a cutting board built into the starboard bow.

The Fudgeboat is truly a family business, and that focus on family shows in everything they make. Their small-batch butter and cream fudges are made right in the shop with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The Fudgeboat offers more than 100 rotating flavors, from classics like chocolate, peanut butter, turtle, and cookies ‘n cream to creative options like coffee toffee, cookie monster, and salted caramel. Besides fudge, you can enjoy homemade ice cream, hand-dipped chocolates, pralines, glazed nuts, and gourmet popcorn. The shop feels like a nostalgic candy store, taking you back to a simpler, sweeter time. Whether you stop in after a day at the beach or pick up a treat to go, The Fudgeboat gives you everything you want from a boardwalk sweets shop: a bit of magic, lots of flavor, and a story to remember.
