Medoc Mountain State Park

Medoc Mountain State Park is situated in Hollister, NC, and it owes its name to Medoc Mountain, which was once part of a vast ancient mountain range. The name Medoc is derived from a province in France, specifically the Bordeaux region. A former property owner, Sidney Weller, cultivated grapes and produced wine in the area. The park boasts rolling hills, hardwood forests, and diverse plant and animal life, providing visitors with various recreational activities such as hiking, paddling, fishing, picnicking, and camping. During our visit, we took a hike on the Stream Loop Trail in the late afternoon and were amazed by the beautiful scenery.
