Raven Rock State Park

Raven Rock State Park is named after the Raven Rock, a towering and almost vertical rock formation that rises 150 feet above the Cape Fear River. It serves as a prominent landmark and is a popular destination for hikers. From the top of the rock, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Cape Fear River. The park has several hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels that allow visitors to explore the diverse natural habitats within the park, including hardwood forests, river bluffs, piedmont plateaus, and other landmarks such as Lanier Falls Rapids, Fish Traps Rapids, and the remains of Northington Lock and Dam. The park’s location along the banks of the Cape Fear River makes it an ideal spot for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. For those who wish to spend more time in the park, Raven Rock State Park provides camping facilities, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings and participate in outdoor activities.
