Good Hops Brewing

Good Hops Brewing is Carolina Beach’s beloved hometown brewery. This woman-owned, woman-brewed spot has been serving craft beer with a coastal twist since 2014. Located on a relaxed four-acre property near Carolina Beach State Park, the small-batch brewery captures the laid-back island lifestyle. Their tagline sums it up: “Livin’ the Island Life, Drinkin’ the Local Beer.”

The taproom is simple and welcoming, offering about ten Good Hops brews on tap at any time. You’ll find a rotating mix of flagship beers and special creations. Whether you love hoppy IPAs or prefer something smooth and dark like a stout, there is usually a flight, sample, or full pour to suit your taste. You can also grab beer to go if you want to bring a bit of the coast home, and there are non-alcoholic options for anyone who doesn’t drink.

What really makes Good Hops special is the atmosphere. The taproom welcomes dogs as long as they are on a leash, and you might be greeted by a wagging tail or a friendly bartender. The brewery doesn’t serve food, but you can bring your own snacks, order delivery, or try something from the food trucks that stop by regularly. Inside, there are board games, cornhole, a giant Connect 4, and locally made merchandise and small-batch goods like Sea Monster Sauces.

The main attraction is out back: an 18-hole Trinity Disc Golf Course that is free to play, with beer holders and benches at every hole. You can borrow discs from the bar, so it’s easy to grab a drink, pick up a disc, and turn your afternoon into a coastal adventure. Whether you are a dedicated craft beer fan or just want a fun, dog-friendly spot near the state park, Good Hops offers the kind of relaxed, community-focused experience that makes Carolina Beach feel like home.
