This challenging 4.7-mile loop offers stunning panoramic views from Moore’s Knob, which features an old fire tower that you can climb to the top of. From there, you can enjoy views of the Sauratown Mountains, Pilot Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Start your adventure by the serene Hanging Rock Lake and traverse a variety of terrains along the trail. Be prepared for some rocky sections that add to the thrill of the hike. When you reach the loop, you’ll have the choice to climb stone stairs (stay to the right) or to continue on the rocky trail inclines (stay to the left). Both options are challenging, but the stairs route is a shorter path to Moore’s Knob.
