Stone Mountain State Park – Black Jack Ridge Trail

The Black Jack Ridge Trail in Stone Mountain State Park, North Carolina, is a moderate 1.5-mile trail marked with white square blazes. It leads hikers through peaceful woodlands and follows an old roadbed, offering plenty of shade in warmer months. The trail connects to popular routes like the Cedar Rock and Wolf Rock Trails, making it easy to create longer hikes that highlight the park’s granite outcrops.

Many people use this trail for out-and-back hikes of about 3 miles or for longer loops. The path features some decent elevation gains throughout, and it rewards you with views from granite formations at the top and, in winter, through the bare trees. It’s a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
