The Guion Gallery, located within the North Carolina History Center at Tryon Palace in New Bern, is a dedicated space showcasing the rich history and cultural heritage of North Carolina’s Central Coastal Region. Named in honor of Bess Guion and dedicated on April 5, 2019, during Tryon Palace’s 60th Anniversary Celebration, the gallery features the permanent “Treasures from the Attic” exhibit. This collection, spearheaded by Mrs. Maude Moore Latham, displays historically significant decorative arts pieces that were reinterpreted to reflect the lifestyle of Governor Tryon in 1770. Admission to the Guion Gallery is free, offering visitors access to artifacts, interactive displays, and a glimpse into the region’s past, complemented by rotating exhibits and engaging historical activities.
