Choosing Your Charlotte Food and Beverage Stop

For distinctive, themed brewery concepts where the founding identity genuinely shapes every aspect of the visitor experience, two of Charlotte’s breweries fully commit to their brand concepts. Lost Worlds Brewing Charlotte is built around an adventure and exploration theme — with a taproom adorned with historical and archaeological artifacts, the Basecamp and Adventure Series beer lines, the award-winning Euchre Golden Ale, and the aptly named Beer Trekkers Run Club, all anchored by a genuinely rare direct trail-side location along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Petty Thieves Brewing Co. leans into a church-and-library aesthetic with a rebellious literary spirit — including a secret barrel room hidden behind a bookcase door, overstuffed couches and warm lighting, a shaded patio with Charlotte skyline views, and an ever-rotating creative beer program spanning smoked Helles, orange creamsicle-inspired ales, and Cold IPAs.

For established Asheville craft beer heritage in Charlotte’s South End brewery district, Hi-Wire Brewing Charlotte is the Charlotte satellite of the well-established Asheville-based Hi-Wire Brewing — one of the most recognized craft breweries in western North Carolina. The Charlotte location opened in July 2022 and spans an 8,743-square-foot taproom with high ceilings and large windows, plus a 2,000-square-foot outdoor beer garden. Signature offerings include the memorably named Pink Lemonade Session Sour Ale, drawn from a 20+ tap system spanning crisp lagers, hop-forward IPAs, sour beers, and rotating seasonal releases, and the venue features ping-pong, foosball, and soccer pool games, alongside colorful murals throughout the interior.

For a genuinely distinctive New American pub-and-grill in a historic Charlotte neighborhood, Caswell Station is one of the few Charlotte venues occupying a renovated historic house — set at the corner of Pecan and Caswell streets in the Elizabeth neighborhood (one of Charlotte’s oldest streetcar suburbs, along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway route). Signature dishes include the widely discussed cheesesteak egg rolls with honey sriracha dipping sauce and the jalapeño-and-jack-cheese stuffed burger, backed by a craft beer, wine, and cocktail beverage program, live acoustic music, multiple TVs for sports, and a genuinely dog-friendly outdoor patio that makes the venue a natural stop for pet owners and Little Sugar Creek Greenway users alike.
