Ashe County Park – Trail C

Trail C at Ashe County Park is in the park’s expansion area, with its own entrance right next to the main one. After turning in, follow the short gravel road to a parking lot by the playground and covered picnic area. You’ll find a trail map near the path to the picnic area that shows all three hiking trails, named Trails A, B, and C.

Trail C is a 1.04-mile loop with a gravel and natural surface, marked by red blazes. To get there, you need to hike part of Trail A. You can either start on Trail A directly or take Trail B and then connect to Trail A before reaching Trail C.

There are some inclines throughout the trail, making it a moderate hike. The trail loops around a small creek, with a small bridge near the midpoint that allows crossing to the other side of the loop without hiking the entire trail. This trail features a patch of rhododendrons on one side of the loop, with opportunities to spot wildlife throughout the hike.
