Ashe County Park – List of Trails

Whether you’re looking for a quick walk to stretch your legs or a longer outing through the park’s expansion area, Ashe County Park has a trail for the day you’re having. The park’s three main hiking trails (A, B, and C) connect through the park’s expansion area, with an additional walking loop circling Phoenix Lake. Click on the trail names below to dive deeper into each one — including what to expect on the path, where to find the trailhead, and our own first-hand notes from the trail.

Trails A, B, and C all connect to one another within the park’s expansion area, so you can pick your route based on how long you want to be on the trail. Trail A is your starting point for the expansion area, regardless of which trail you’re really after. Trail B is a short connector that lets you cut over to Trail C without retracing your steps. And Trail C is the longest and most rewarding of the three, with rolling elevation changes, a small creek crossing, and a native rhododendron patch worth catching in late spring.

For a quieter, more accessible walk, the Ashe Park Lake Path loops the 8-acre Phoenix Lake at the center of the main park — perfect for an easy stroll with the family or a slow walk before settling in for a picnic.
