The Fitness Trail at Carolina Beach State Park is a 1-mile loop that’s a bit different from the park’s other trails. It’s the only one outside the main park gates, found off 7th Street with parking by the Carolina Beach Recreation Center. This spot is especially handy for anyone wanting a quick and easy outdoor walk without going into the main park.
As you might guess from the name, the Fitness Trail is set up for exercise, with several stations along the loop for simple workout activities. Some of these stations may be in poor shape, so it’s a good idea to be careful when using them. The trail itself is flat and made of packed sandy gravel, making it easy to walk or ride. Unlike most other park trails, this one is also open to bicycles, so it’s great for different types of activities.
The trail winds through a sandy coastal forest and offers plenty of shade, making it a nice place to visit even if you’re not using the fitness stations. Whether you want a relaxed walk, a light workout, or a simple bike ride, the Fitness Trail is a flexible and easy option. It’s a good choice if you want something less challenging than the park’s other hiking trails.
