The Roasted Bean

The Roasted Bean is a family-owned coffee shop in the Old Leaksville area of Eden, NC, serving handcrafted espresso drinks, smoothies, teas, and fresh-baked goods on Washington Street. It’s a locally owned, welcoming little spot with indoor seating, an outdoor patio, and Wi-Fi — the kind of place that works equally well for a quick coffee run, a catch-up with a friend, or an hour of getting work done.

The coffee is the draw, but the menu runs well beyond it, from frozen lemonades and refreshers to smoothies and a case of baked goods. We enjoyed the coffee and smoothies, and the baked goods are great — we especially recommend the cinnamon roll.

Be sure to check out the pictures below to get a feel for The Roasted Bean before you go — or to relive the visit after.

A Locally Owned Eden Coffee Shop

The Roasted Bean is a locally owned, family-run coffee shop, and that comes through in the experience. Regulars consistently single out the friendly service and the handcrafted espresso drinks, and the shop has built a loyal following since opening — the kind of neighborhood coffee spot where the staff remembers your order and is happy to remake a drink if it isn’t right.

The setting fits the vibe. There’s simple, comfortable seating indoors and an outdoor patio, plus Wi-Fi, which makes it a genuine spot to settle in and work or catch up rather than just a grab-and-go window. It sits in the historic Old Leaksville part of Eden, with street parking out front, and it’s an easy stop to fold into a morning exploring that side of town.

The Menu

The heart of the menu is the coffee and espresso program — lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos, americanos, and mochas (the white chocolate mocha and salted caramel mocha are popular), along with brewed coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and chai lattes. The espresso is handcrafted, and regulars rate the iced chai latte and the espresso drinks as among the best around.

Beyond coffee, The Roasted Bean keeps things interesting with smoothies, refreshers, frozen drinks, and frozen lemonades in flavors like cherry and mango — a nice option on a warm Eden afternoon, or for anyone in the group who isn’t after caffeine. Specialty frozen drinks like the White Chocolate Cookie Butter Frappe rotate through as well.

Then there are the baked goods, which are worth saving room for. The case features fresh pastries and treats, and the cinnamon roll is our pick — it’s the thing we’d send you in for. You’ll also find locally made cake pops from a nearby Eden bakery, keeping the whole operation rooted in the community.

An Eden Highlight

Every town needs a good independent coffee shop, and Eden has one in The Roasted Bean. It’s locally owned and family-run; the espresso is handcrafted, and the service is the kind that turns first-timers into regulars — small things that add up to a place worth going out of your way for rather than defaulting to a chain.

Order a handcrafted espresso drink or, when the weather’s warm, one of the frozen lemonades — and whatever you do, get a cinnamon roll if it is available from the baked goods case. That was our favorite, and it’s the thing we’d point you to first. If you’d rather linger, grab a seat on the patio or find a spot inside with the Wi-Fi and stay a while.

Set in the historic Old Leaksville part of town, The Roasted Bean is an easy and enjoyable stop on any tour of Eden — a genuine local coffee shop doing the simple things well, which is exactly what you want from one.
