Beaufort Historic Site – John C. Manson House

Located in the heart of Beaufort, North Carolina’s historic district, the John C. Manson House is a beautiful reminder of the town’s rich history. Built in 1825 by naval officer and merchant John C. Manson and his wife, Mary Leecraft Bell Manson, this Federal-style house is a highlight of the Beaufort Historic Site. Its Bahamian architectural influences are evident in the steeply angled roofline and double porches, reflecting the coastal charm of the era. Meticulously restored in 2001, the house now operates as a captivating museum that showcases period furnishings and intricate faux finishes, transporting visitors back to the 19th century. The house provides a window into the lives of Beaufort’s prosperous residents. Whether you are a history enthusiast or simply appreciate architectural beauty, the John C. Manson House is a must-visit destination, filled with stories of pirates, spies, and coastal heritage.
