Located just outside Kernersville and Oak Ridge, the Keyauwee Loop Trail at Cascades Preserve in Guilford County, NC, offers a peaceful 0.5-mile loop, providing hikers a quick yet immersive escape into nature. This trail is situated within a 130-acre preserve and requires traversing at least part of the Falling Waters Trail to reach its starting point. Both ends of the Keyauwee Loop seamlessly connect to the Falling Waters Trail, making exploration easy.
The trail is named after the Native Americans who once inhabited the region and winds up a gentle ridge through a lush hardwood forest, where towering oaks and vibrant ferns create a tranquil canopy. With soft paths covered in pine needles and scenic views of a creek, it’s perfect for a reflective stroll or a family-friendly adventure.
Rated as moderate due to some roots and rocks, the Keyauwee Loop is both accessible and engaging. It is ideal for combining with the Falling Waters Trail for a figure-eight hike or for enjoying a peaceful nature experience in under an hour.
